International Cookie Day is the perfect time to reflect on my lifelong love of cookies, a passion that started in the 70s. My earliest memories are of watching and helping my mom bake countless batches of cookies. The kitchen was our happy place, filled with the comforting scent of vanilla and warm dough. I would stand on a stool, eager to mix ingredients and sneak a taste of cookie dough. Those moments with my mom planted the seeds for a love of baking that would grow with me.

The 80s: Magazines, Recipes, and New Inspiration

In the 80s, my cookie journey took a new turn. I found inspiration in the glossy pages of Woman’s Day and Seventeen Magazine, where I discovered my first chocolate chip cookie recipe. Those magazines became my guides, introducing me to a world of recipes and baking tips. I still remember the thrill of baking my first batch of chocolate chip cookies, feeling a sense of pride as they came out of the oven, golden and delicious.

A Treasure Trove of Books and Library Adventures

As my passion deepened, I turned to books and the local library. Every trip felt like a treasure hunt, searching for cookie cookbooks filled with exciting new recipes. One of my most cherished moments was receiving a cookie book from a dear friend—a gift that continues to inspire my creativity in the kitchen.

From Hobby to Creative Passion

Baking cookies became more than just a hobby; it became my creative outlet. Over the years, I’ve perfected the classics and embraced new techniques, from mastering royal icing to creating 3D cookies adorned with edible glitter. Sharing my passion through my blog, classes  and my Youtube videos brings me so much joy, knowing that others can experience the same magic I felt as a child in the kitchen with my mom.
