Recently I have been fascinated with how easy it is to decorate cookies using fondant.
Last year a client asked me to make some fondantcookies, and since then I have been venturing out of my royal icing comfort zone and have been decorating cookies with fondant. Let me tell you that I am loving it!
In this video I decorated a Jack o' lantern cookie using fondant in three different ways, and I really, really love these designs.
I have a very good recipe for making fondant from scratch, but lately I have been using a very delicious, super soft store bought fondant.
Having the right fondant is like nailing the right consistency of royal icing, and since I found a very good one, there is no one stopping me from using it. I just hope that soon things will be back to normal and things will be as available as they used to be, because sometimes it is hard to find this brand of fondant.
Here are some examples of some other cookies I recently made. I used some molds and cookie cutters that I have at home, but there are so many fondant tools that will help you create wonderful cookies.
I especially like thestamped cookie cutters since they make things much easier and the look of your cookies is so nice and smooth.
I am so happy that finally CookieCon is happening right now!
I have never got the chance to attend to one of those conventions, but I am so happy that The Cookie Couture has been present since 2018.
The organizers are the sweetest persons ever and I am so glad that they give the opportunity to small business to be part of the Sponsor program.
If you are passionate about cookie decorating and sugar art, you would love to attend to one of those conventions, there are a lot opportunities to learn new techniques, see new products, hands on classes and the speakers are always great cookie artists.
You can apply to be a sponsor and you can cover the fee with gifts that meet the requirements or paying the fee.
Since Fall 2020, I noticed that the color trends and designs for Halloween cookies were changing and instead of being the traditional bright colors and spooky cookies, they were more subtle and sweet.
And this year the cuteness and pastel color cookies are making a big scene on Instagram and Pinterest.
Here is the video:
And as a "Trendy girl", as a good friend from High school described me, I am very excited to tint some royal icing with new shades of food gel color.
I had these food gel colors in my color drawer waiting for me to use them. I used Wedge-wood, gold, eggplant, moss, watermelon and coral red, all of these colors are from Americolor.
I prepared magic consistency icing and divided in several mini containers to tint the icing, I started by adding just a tiny touch of each of the gel colors and covered some cookies with it, then I added more gel to each container to achieve a darker shade, but still in the soft pastel color range.
