GLACÉ ICING RECIPE FOR SUGAR COOKIES

There are several kind of icing recipes to decorate sugar cookies and this recipe indeed is the easiest and less expensive icing recipe.  You do not need a mixer, eggs or meringue powder.

The flavor is a little different as well the consistency, but this icing also dries hard!! One thing that I love about the royal icing is that dries hair and this make the handling of the cookies very easy and not messy.

This icing takes a longer time to dry hard and is very similar to the glaze that is used for doughnuts, you can add some drops of  lime juice or your favorite clear extract.  Peppermint, cotton candy,  almond and clear vanilla extract are among my favorites.

Custom decorated cookies are most of the time associate with a high price tag, like the ingredients are pricy and some cookies are very intricate that it takes several hours to finish them, but I think decorating cookies is affordable for everyone and there are ways to lower the cost of them and it might be not as pretty, but for sure they will be a great treat or a great activity to make with kids of all ages, just gather a variety of sanding sugars and sprinkles and that's it!

GLACÉ ICING RECIPE FOR SUGAR COOKIES

Prep time: 10 min


 

Servings:20-24 cookies


Ingredients:


13 12 fl. oz. Powdered sugar

2 tbsps Corn syrup

3 12 fl. oz. Whole milk

1 tsps Pure vanilla extract



Procedure


1.- Sift the powdered sugar into a clean bowl.

2.- Add the corn syrup, three tablespoons of milk and with a wire whisk mix throughly. Continue adding the milk by tablespoons until all the sugar is incorporated and the icing have a heavy cream consistency.

3.- Add the vanilla and mix.

4.- Poured it in a sealed tight container and keep it refrigerated until is ready to use.

You can add food gel color or other flavor playing with different extracts.
